Commandant’s Message
25 December 2013 at 1302H

Season’s Greetings to the UP Corps of Cadets! As you and your families gather to celebrate the holidays, I would like to take this moment to send you my warmest greetings and salutations.

I am glad to celebrate Christmas as your Commandant, this has been truly an extraordinary experience. Throughout the previous semester, and the first half of this semester, I have seen and admired your dedication and enthusiasm, living by our shibboleths of Duty well-performed, Honor untarnished, and Country above self.

This year has brought many challenges that continue to leave sectors of our society suffering, the families still recovering from the disaster brought by typhoon Yolanda, political turmoil in our government, to name a few. But even during these trying times, I believe that there is still much to celebrate this Christmas: the love of family and friends, the spirit of peace and unity among men and women, the ties of communities.

As we progress through this Corps year, and eventually in our lives, remember that you are UP, further more, that you are UP ROTC. You are gifted with extraordinary skills, you are young men and women of character. You are bound to do great, and return exponentially to society.

I continue to be awed, and amused by your determination and commitment to what we do in ROTC. Let us aspire higher, and accomplish greater!

Happy holidays!
