FORT RAMON MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija – The 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division, Philippine Army under the leadership of Brig. Gen. Hernando DCA Iriberri has just dispatched a Company (composed of 4 Officers and 97 Enlisted Personnel) to reposition at Headquarters, Philippine Army in Fort Andres Bonifacio, Metro Manila for deployment to the typhoon-stricken Vizayas Region. This is in support to the ongoing Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) Operations in the areas devastated by super typhoon “Yolanda”.

This morning, November 11, 2013, a send-off ceremony was conducted at Headquarters 7ID, PA to motivate the troops, provide situation briefing and inspect HADR equipment. BGEN Iriberri told his soldiers that this will be an opportunity to help our fellow Filipinos who were struck by the devastating typhoon. Likewise, he said that the troops deployed will not only represent 7th Infantry Division but the whole organization of the Philippine Army as well.

BGEN Iriberri recalled that exactly a month ago (October 11, 2013), the onslaught of typhoon “Santi” caused significant damage to 7ID facilities and structures and is still on the process of recovering from the effects of the said catastrophe.

“Despite all of these, we remained focused in our resolve to accomplish our mission. We have just experienced the difficulties and hardships brought about by these kinds of events that is why we are determined to offer our help” he added.

BGEN Iriberri emphasized the proper attitude of the augmentation forces; they are not to engage in any form of illegal activities in the conduct of HADR in the area, and utmost patience and tolerance must be implemented in controlling the crowd of people.

Lastly, he gave his guidance prior to the deployment of forces to take good care of their health and to be security conscious at all times and to perform their task as mandated by the AFP.
