Lieutenant Colonel Rodil is a product of the University of the Philippines, Diliman ROTC. He graduated from UP Diliman with a bachelor’s degree in Architecture in 1984. In 1988, he received his commission as Second Lieutenant in the Reserve Force, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and was subsequently called-to-active duty in the Philippine Army in 1989. After 16 months of pre-deployment training which included the Officer Preparatory Course, the Scout Ranger Orientation Course and the Basic Airborne Course, he was assigned with the 31st Infantry Battalion of the Army’s 2nd Infantry Division where he served from platoon leader to company commander in the provinces of Quezon and Camarines Norte. In 1995, he served with the Presidential Security Group (PSG) in various positions in the Security Task Action Groups, the PSG Training School and the Special Reaction Unit.

After his Armor Officer Advanced Course, he was subsequently re-assigned to Headquarters Philippine Army at the Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Personnel, G1, PA in 2000. It was at this time that he also held a concurrent designation as Assistant Commandant of UP Diliman ROTC until 2003. He later served as instructor with the Training and Doctrines Command and as Operations Officer of the 404th Infantry Brigade, 4th Infantry Division based in Compostela Valley Province before he took up his Command and General Staff Course (CGSC).

After finishing his CGSC, he was assigned to the 10th Inf Div based in Davao City where he had a brief stint as Assistant Chief of Staff for Personnel, G1 before assuming command of the 25th Infantry (Fireball) Battalion in Feb 2007, serving until March 2009. During his tenure as battalion commander, his unit was deployed in various parts of Compostela Valley Province and Sarangani Province (at the height of the campaign against the lawless MILF groups).

Lieutenant Colonel Rodil is a graduate of the Canadian Land Forces Command and Staff College (CLFCSC) in 2003 and the AFP Command and General Staff College in 2006. He is a licensed Architect and holds a masters’ degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of the Philippines, Diliman.

He is presently serving with the Civil Relations Service, AFP as its Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations and assumed the post of Commandant and Department Head of UP Diliman ROTC in November 2009 in a concurrent designation.
